We have been continuing Breezes training and are very pleased with her progress, she is a very biddable bitch who is very eager to learn and succeed. She is retrieving tennis balls, puppy dummies and pheasant wings. At this early stage we don’t use the pheasant wing too much for 1 main reason, being the wing is a lot more intriguing and may put her off retrieving tennis balls and dummies which would make early training difficult. Why then do we use it? It is important for any dog to get use to picking up all kinds of objects, if you give the command for her to retrieve you want your dog to make the pick.
As she walks with us to heel off the lead we reinforce the command “heel” just as we would if she was on the lead.

It’s been an anxious last 2 days, we had a litter of tollers due on Sunday and mum to be (aka amba) looked very restless, but managed to keep us in suspense until Tuesday evening before giving in. She had a quick and easy birth having 7 puppies. She started at 16.48 and finished at 19.40. Amba and Rudy produced a very even litter all having the same birth weight of 16oz. All puppies are very strong and feeding well off mum. Amba is a very calm affectionte mother and is doing really well.

We are in the final week before the puppies start to go to their new homes, this week they have had their first vaccination so the puppies will leave us and go into there new environment with some immunity. All puppies are very forward and we are extremely pleased how the litter has turned out. We have really benefited by bringing Rudy into our breeding program as you can see he has given the puppies so much more structure in their head, chest and ears. Amber is in fantastic shape after rearing and giving so much to her offspring, she has even managed to get two days off to go picking-up. It will be nice for us to see how they grow and develop within their first year.
This a hard time for us as a family to let this litter go as we all have put a lot of time and energy into them and have been watching them grow from day one. We all have our individual favourites and will be doing our best to hide them away when the time comes for them to leave!

We often get asked if it hurts the animal when they are Microchipped, the simple answer is no. The implanting of the micro-chip is short and painless, it is located between the shoulder blades and is as big as a grain of rice. We’ve added a small video to show you the quick and simple process.

Congratulations to our stud dog George who has sired another healthy litter of 7 chocolate Labradors.
Coco (Mum also a chocolate Labrador) is doing really well after a long labour, there were 2 girls and 5 boys.
The girls weighed an average of 12oz at birth and the boys 15oz. All puppies are a good dark chocolate at present.
