Gundog training: One to one lessons.

October 3rd, 2010

One-to-one training is ideal for young dogs. Usually from about 13 weeks of age and suitable for puppies up to 12 months. Starting with a young puppy enables you to get into good habits from the very beginning but it essential that you keep it up. This is also a good option for those of you that need session times to fit in around your schedule, or that prefer individual attention. We also give you homework and the opportunity to work on a particular skill or objective. Need some advice on getting started with your puppy give us a call on 01636 821600.

Sporting, Equine and K9 photographer.

September 14th, 2010

We have recently sold a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever puppy to Mr and Mrs Andrew Howells. Andrew and Gemma are a friendly couple who have huge interest in rural sports. There added value is they are pretty fantastic photographers!

Any body looking for those fantastic pictures of there gundogs working these are the people to get in touch with.

A bit more information on Andrew

“My passion for photography began whilst working as an underwater photographer for the world famous Stuart Cove dive centre in the Bahamas. the location for many Hollywood movies. In 2001, I moved back to London and whilst training at the Kent Institute of Art & Design I assisted some of London’s premier fashion photographers. After graduating  I was the Sales & Marketing director for Venture portrait studio in Wandsworth, London.  After 3 years I became the Business Development Director for a small, international, design agency and produced and directed all creative shoots for clients. Having recently got married my wife and I moved up to Rutland and I am now working full time as a photographer.  Although I lived overseas my schooling was all in rural schools in the UK where I was actively involved with riding and hunting, so quite naturally I am loving country life and seeing our new Toller develop in the coming months.”
You can see more on adress work on his website, Andrew Howells Photography.

Black Labrador Retriever Mr Woods aka Woody.

September 12th, 2010

Dear Amanda & Philip

As promised an update on Mr.  Woods.

As you can see from the above photos he has become a real “Wild Fowler” he finds water wherever we are. Not always the cleanest I might add! He loves coming down to our little summerhaus near the beach in Suffolk and has taken it all in his stride.

He has really settled now and has his favorite advantage points in the house, in case he should miss something.

He is a joy to take on walks. He returns to us when called, whistled or signaled to and walks to heel when asked. Should we be curtailing the length of walks as he is still relatively young? He thoroughly enjoyed a 7 miler last weekend when he had a Golden Retriever to play with but we wonder if we should not have gone so far.

He is a lovely dog, more confident with us now, a joy to have as part of the family. He is great with other dogs and is smart enough to give the little snappy ones a wide birth. Nelson and he are great friends. He loves going to pubs and sits quietly under the table. We have started to leave him for longer periods now during the day. He goes through the night without chewing and we have left him a couple of times  for 4 hours without disaster. We don’t use the cage at all now so will plan to return it to you ASAP. The only things he ate was our TV remote control and he pinched a ham hock from the side in the kitchen when I wasn’t paying attention!  But it reminds us that he is after all still young.

He is about to have another adventure this weekend when he comes away with us in our caravan. Watch this space……

Thank you both once again for teaching him all he knows.

Regards
David,Sue & Woody Seaton

We would like to say a big thank you for everyone that keeps in touch and sends us updates on the progress of puppies past and present.

We feel this is so important so we as responsible breeders can monitor progress on certain matings and whether or not we have produced a well balanced puppy.

Summer training for the picking up team

May 27th, 2010

The picking up team enjoyed cooling off with a nice swim and retrieves in the water. A fantastic way to keep fit, and cool off during the hot weather. Their day consisted of blind retrieves, double marked retrieves, directional work, jumping fences, and water retrieves, alongside the spectators of sheep, swans and ducks!! All good for the steadiness around livestock!! Flint, Moss, Rudy, Casper, and Digger all look forward to more summer training.

Copper’s cuties – look at us now!!

May 27th, 2010

Copper’s babies have grown into fantastic looking girls and boys, all enjoying their new lives. A big thankyou to everyone for the updates and photo’s, your emails have been fantastic, everyone is so pleased with how they have settled in and how easy they have been. We are delighted with them all a big thankyou to Copper for a wonderful job and also to Rudy for helping to produce some real little crackers.

We would like to say thank you.

Hi Phillip and Amanda,

Hope you are all well, thought we’d drop you a few lines after our latest aquasition from you, that’s three now! Ace is getting on fine with the others and early fun/search training is going well (plenty of drive there!). He is getting used to his new surroundings and all the other new sights and sounds he takes in his stride, his real training regime will start in about three months when he’ll be a year old, i think he’ll make a great sniffer dog by the early signs.
Quinn, the black Labrador from yourselves went onto pass his Home Office assessment and now is an Arms/Explosive search dog for a private firm. I still have a lot of regrets of selling him but after the training with him he really was the sort of dog that needed to work full time and i think it would have been unfair to him to keep him if i couldn’t give that to him.
Sky, the German Shepherd sourced by you continues to excell in just about all areas of her work, Her tracking and protection work still amazes us when we train her. She is now tracking on all different types of surface for long distances and very good on stopping at all articles on the tracks. I am hoping to put her for a tracking test later this year.
Max, the long haired German Shepherd will always be our number one and although he is mainly a pet dog his working abilities are coming through, no doubt steered on by Sky.
We thank you for his early training during my spell in hospital and all you have done for us in the past years. You have found us three very high class dogs who have excelled in three very different disciplines to a very high standard, and for your ongoing help through the years. Hope to see you soon
